A Christmas Special

As an NFL tradition, palyers that end the year well tend to give gifts to their teammates who have helped them reach their success. Normally this may consist of a dinner or watch but not this year for Texans running back, Arian Foster. In celebration of the holidays and a good year, he gave his lineman a more thoughtful gift. He gave them segways. He rides one and some of the men give him a hard time about it so he decided to give them their very own, as riding them is already a tradition in Texas.

Early Saturday morning Kansas City Chiefs' linebacker Jovan Belcher took his and his girlfriend's lives. It started with a call to the local police department at 7:50 a.m. when gun shots were reported at 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins' home. Police arrived to the scene where they found Kasandra, Belchers at the time girlfriend, badly wounded with several gunshots. She was rushed to the hospital where she soon was pronounced dead. About twenty minutes after the first call, police recieved a second call from the Chiefs' home stadium. It was reported that there was a man armed with a handgun. It was Jovan Belcher. He was outside the stadium reportedly thanking coaches when he held the gun to his head and took his own life. The reason behind the shootings is not known except that belcher and Perkins had been in an arguement prior the the incidents. Winter Sports Kick Off

This week marks the beginning of the first ever winter sport season here at Wyoming High School. Competative cheer tryouts started on Monday, November 5th. The final day for tryouts will be Wednesday, November 7th.

On Monday, a surprising 37 girls came out and showed their skills. Day 1 was a chance for girls to get warmed up and know what to expect. They also learned part of a cheer routine that they will need to perform at the final day 3 of tryouts. Day 2 girls were evaluated on the previously learned cheer along with skills such as splits, back walk overs, back handsprings, back tucks and any other skills they may have had. Day 3 will be the final day for tryouts. Groups of eight girls will go in front of the coaches one last time to prove that they are meant to be there. The results for who made the team will be posted early Thursday morning in the athletic office and practices will begin that evening.

These next couple weeks will entale many more tryouts. Bowling tryouts will be held November 14 through 16th at Spectrum Lanes immediately after school. And basketball tryouts will also be coming up quickly.
